Central Division NBA Teams & Jerseys

Central DivisionChicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indiana, Milwaukee — the belt, and the division that taught the league how to defend

Cold-weather basketball, and arenas that do not forgive a soft quarter. This is the division that produced the nineties Bulls and the Bad Boys before them, and the jerseys reflect it: heavy colours, unapologetic reds, nothing decorative for its own sake.

What this corner of the league is like

Six teams split by geography and then left alone to become rivals. This is the one that produced these five.

The Central runs along the Great Lakes and down through Indiana, and it has a reputation that predates modern offence. Physical defence, long series, low scores — Chicago built a dynasty on exactly that template in the nineties, and Detroit's Bad Boys made it policy a decade earlier. Milwaukee's title in 2021 and Cleveland's in 2016 were won by teams built in the same image.

Red is the division's signature: Bulls red, Pistons red, Cavs wine, Pacers navy with gold trim, Bucks green. It means the five look almost nothing alike despite the reputation, and it means the retro designs are unusually strong here — the Bulls nineties set and the Bucks' deer-trimmed greens get asked for constantly.

If you are shopping this division for someone else, this is the one where the answer is usually sentimental. People pick a Central club because their father did, and they pick the season their team won.

Whose name gets printed here

These are the names that actually move through this division's five clubs — ranked by what we genuinely carry rather than by reputation. The ones with a full player page are marked.

Swingman, Replica, or Custom?

Once you have picked the club, the build is the next decision. Here is what actually separates them, in plain terms.

Swingman The standard fan build

The fan jersey most people mean. Light mesh, stitched or heat-pressed lettering and numbers, and a cut that sits properly on the body without being tight. It is the right answer for roughly nine out of ten people, and it holds up to actual wear rather than hanging in a wardrobe.

Replica Lighter on the wallet

A simpler build — printed detailing rather than heavier applied lettering, and a lighter hand overall. If you want the look at the lowest entry point, this is where you start. It is not trying to be the on-court jersey.

Custom Your name, your number

Blank or pick-your-own — a name and a number of your choosing. It is the answer when the exact player is not in stock, when it is a gift for someone whose favourite never got a jersey, or when you simply want your own name across the back.

Player Edition Closest to on-court

Built to the specification the players actually wear. Heavier fabric, deeper detail, and a fit that is intentionally athletic rather than relaxed. Pick this if you care about the details people only notice up close.

05

Sizes and who they are for

Jerseys are cut to be worn over something else, which is why the tag size never quite matches a t-shirt.

Adult Standard sizes

The standard adult run. Jerseys are cut to be worn over a t-shirt, so the shoulder sits slightly wide by design — that is the silhouette, not a sizing error. If you want it fitted, size down; if you want the baggy look most people are after, stay true.

Women's Tapered cut

A narrower shoulder, a shorter body and a waist that actually tapers. Same design, drawn for a different frame rather than simply scaled down.

Youth For younger fans

Sized for kids and cut a little more forgivingly, because it is going to be worn hard. Worth checking the size guide against a favourite t-shirt rather than guessing from age.

Big & Tall Extra length

Added length and width for taller or broader frames. Same jersey, more room, without the shoulders drifting halfway down the arm.

Common questions

Do you carry throwbacks for this division?
Yes where they exist. The Central has better retro coverage than most — the nineties designs in particular. Any team page marked Dossier lists the seasons and editions actually in stock.
Is the Central a good place to start if I am new to the league?
It is a good place to start if you like defence and physical play. If you want shooting and pace, look further west.
Can I get my own name on a Central Division jersey?
Yes. The Custom collection covers blank and pick-your-own builds — useful when the player you want is not stocked under his own name, or when you just want your own.
Do you stock every club in every division?
All thirty franchises are live, in all six divisions. The depth differs club to club — the ones with the widest range are the ones with a dossier page underneath.
